Lisa Anglen | RSA Engineering

In our member spotlight, Lisa Anglen takes time out of her busy day to chat with SMPS. Lisa, who works for RSA Engineering as their Marketing Director, shares the rewards of her job and the benefits of being an SMPS member

Q: How did you find your way to the AEC industry and your current firm?

A: I was looking to move out of the Oil & Gas industry. When I originally joined RSA in 2009, my sister was working at RSA and encouraged me to apply. I grew up with my dad working in the industry, so it was a natural fit.

Q: What is your favorite part of the job?

A: My co-workers! RSA has a great group of people who each bring a unique aspect to the firm.

Q: What has been your most meaningful project?

A: Anything to do with staff events in which we all get together and enjoy each other’s company.

Q: What are your challenges?

A: Balancing projects with deadlines (e.g., proposals) versus downtime projects that are open-ended.

Q: What advice would you give to someone who is about to enter the marketing or business development field?

A: It is, of course, important to find a job that meets your skill sets and goals, but also very important to find a company with a culture that meets your personality and interests.

Q: What’s on your bucket list?

A: Professionally, I’ve really wanted to develop my architectural photography skills. Personally, the New York City Marathon and a handful of ultra-marathon trail races.

Q: How do you spend your time outside of work?

A: I love spending time with my two girls and family. I try to get outside as much as possible to hike, ski, and run. I also love relaxing.

Q: What’s the best and worst part of the pandemic for you?

A: Not knowing what would happen next. It felt like the regulations were always changing, and each day brought a new set of challenges.

Q: Why is SMPS important to you?

A: SMPS unites our local group of marketers and BD professionals. I love having an organization that continuously offers educational and networking opportunities.
